Spring brings a lot more than time moving forward, flowers blossoming, and warmer weather. It is the time that many of us take ROAD TRIPS! Yes, where we jump in the vehicle, throw caution to the wind and just go wherever the open road takes us – okay, well maybe it only happens like that in the movies or before we all had adult responsibilities. But a good road trip is a good road trip and can be appreciated at any point in our lives. So, to honor our love for all things travel related and road trips we will be hitting the road this summer for what we are calling, “Urban Swank’s Summer Road Tour”.
We are super-duper (wow I went way back with that one) excited and can’t wait to share all the details, which we will give you all as we lock in dates and locations. Since I am busting at the seams with excitement I can and must share one of our cities and a new fab find. The city is Austin, can I get a WHOO HOO, and no that is not the fab find because we all know that Austin is a FABULICIOUS city. The new Lone Star Court, which makes its debut in August, is the fab find.
Lone Star Court is an authentic Americana roadside hotel by Valencia Group. They also brought us Hotel Sorella in CityCentre and Hotel Valencia in San Antonio. Recently, I had the opportunity to get a sneak peek at one of the rooms, when the company had a walk-through model set-up here in the city. Think of retro-chic with a whole bunch of Texas, or as they put it, “where nostalgia will meet modern”. The hotel will be outfitted with an aesthetic that is authentically Austin and Texas Hill Country – from the art in the rooms to the unique outdoor environment. In true Austin style the hotel will offer live music, outdoor firepits, a dripping pool that is reminiscent of Hill Country swimming holes and will feature its own food trailer court onsite.
One of the biggest wow factors for me was walking into the room and seeing the amazing mid-century furniture. They even had this super cute vintage refrigerator, which was a throwback to the 60’s era. The refrigerator will come stocked with local Texas beers and wines along with other locally sourced goodies. It was as if I opened the door and was starring in my own episode of the twilight zone. Hats off to Houston-based, internationally acclaimed designer, Lauren Rottet for designing this amazing space.
Can you see why I was bubbling over with excitement? Lone Star is going to make our road trip to Austin even more exciting and memorable. We will just have to remind ourselves, “It is a road trip ladies, you must leave the property and see other parts of the city!” Now if we repeat that a few times it should work right?!?!
