Discovery Green, the 12-acre park in the heart of downtown Houston, continues its Spring 2018 season with the return of Thursday Night Concerts. This free concert series, presented by University of Houston-Downtown, is a family-friendly showcase of the some of the best music along the Gulf Coast.
The series, emceed by KPFT DJ Roark Smith, opens on May 17 with a performance by Houston hip-hop royalty Slim Thug with DJ Baby Roo. It continues with blues musicians Marcia Ball and Mighty Orq on May 24, and Texas troubadour Terry Allen and Libby Koch on May 31. June concerts feature a Tejas rockabilly performance from Rosie Flores with The Octanes, Americana punk legends John Doe and VODI, Amercian blues from Ruthie Foster with The Peterson Brothers, and Dale Watson with Celine Lee bringing Texas roots music.
