Houston BBQ Throwdown 2018

The Houston Barbecue Festival and Saint Arnold Brewing Company announce the 4th Annual Houston BBQ Throwdown! featuring Houston’s best barbecue restaurants competing to create the next great barbecue dish that represents the many diverse culinary influences of Houston-style barbecue.
For the 2018 edition, invited barbecue joints will once again produce one dish that represents their interpretation of Houston-style barbecue. Ticketed guests will be able to sample the dishes from all the restaurants. This year will also feature more up-and-coming barbecue joints and pitmasters as well as established veterans. Jim Buchanan of Buck’s Barbeque Co. and Joey Victorian of Victorian’s Barbecue are two newcomers participating in their first Houston BBQ Throwdown.
A blind judging process featuring barbecue experts from around Texas will pick a single winner from the entries. There will also be a “People’s Choice” award in which guests can vote for their favorite dish.
Participating barbecue joints include (subject to change): Beaver’s Westheimer (Judge’s Choice co-winner from 2017), Blood Bros. BBQ, Buck’s Barbeque Co., El Burro & the Bull (Judge’s Choice co-winner from 2017), Feges BBQ, Harlem Road Texas BBQ, The Pit Room, Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue, Victorian’s Barbecue, and Tin Roof BBQ (People’s Choice winner from 2017). Additional participants will be announced at a later time.
The judging panel will include pitmaster Will Buckman of CorkScrew BBQ in Spring, Houston Chronicle restaurant critic Alison Cook, and barbecue photographer Robert J. Lerma.
