From art shows to culinary festivals, speakeasies, concerts, live performances, and pop-up shops, there is always something to do and to get into in H-town! Check out the fun things to do in Houston this week:

The Hip Hop Nutcracker (Thursday, November 30th)

The perfect outing for the entire family this holiday season, The Hip Hop Nutcracker, a contemporary re-imagination of Tchaikovsky’s timeless classic, sets out on a third national tour following the success of two previous sold-out tours. This show takes a modern twist of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” combining hip music and dance choreography. This is not a ballet, but a hip hop version of the classic.

Tamale Festival (Saturday, December 2nd)

Head out for a day of good times, good music, cold drinks, and great food at the 7th Annual Tamale Festival! The entire family can enjoy a day of fun, and of course, a ton of tamales! In additional to tasty tamales, they will offer fresh-made tacos, Texas BBQ, Chinese food, and all types of fun festival foods like fried Oreos, kabobs, and turkey legs.

The Pancakes & Booze Art Show (Saturday, December 2nd)

Over 120 emerging artists will feature their work at The Pancakes & Booze Art Show, an alternative underground art and music movement. The event will feature local artists on display, live body painting, cocktails, an all you-can-eat pancake bar, and live DJ’s.

CultureMap Holiday Pop-Up (Sunday, December 3rd)

Time to get those fab finds and fun holiday gifts, and we have got just the place….CultureMap Holiday Pop-up Shop! This curated holiday boutique will showcase 25 vendors and retailers with everything from home goods to fabulous finds for the kids. So grab the friends and make your way for a day of shopping, cocktailing, caroling, and fun.

Houston vs. Austin BBQ Throwdown (Sunday, December 3rd)

Time to find out who has the best BBQ- is it H-Town (Houston) or A-Town (Austin)? The HOU-ATX BBQ Throwdown is planning to answer this question finally. Some of the top BBQ restaurants from Houston and Austin will be competing for the crown!
