Never again will you have to utter the words, “there is nothing going on in Houston”! Each week, we will bring you five swanky (and hand-picked) events that are sure to keep your social life in check. From art shows to culinary festivals, speakeasies, concerts, live performances, and pop-up shops, there is always something to do and to get into in H-town! Check out the fun things to do in Houston this week:
Bring in Independence Day with a four-day celebration at City Centre! The events kick off on July 1st with the first of 4 concerts and fireworks spectacular at the end of the night.
Cool off this 4th of July with 20,000 pounds of snow! I know you’re probably thinking how are we going to pull this off in Houston!?!? Well, Memorial City is making it happen and will also have ice sculpture demonstrations, frozen treats, patriotic eats, live music, face painting, balloon art, and more. This event is free to attend.
Taste Of New Orleans (Friday, July 7th)
It’s time for the 3rd Annual Taste of New Orleans! This event brings some of the tastiest food and best entertainment straight from NOLA. This year the Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia, will be headlining the festival. So go out and celebrate the art, culture, food, and music that makes New Orleans such a spectacular place.
Hosted by Saint Arnold’s Brewery, they are bringing their pub crawl back downtown. Multiple stops are included in this crawl and you can choose any participating location to begin and grab your punch card. End the crawl at Market Square Park for prizes and live performances from Ishi and The Waxaholics. This event is free to attend, but the drinks are on you.
On the second Saturday of each month, Sawyer Yards (made up five re-purposed artist buildings) will host a guided showcase featuring the work of local talents. Guests can enjoy (and even purchase) selections of paintings, sculptures, jewelry, photography, clothing, textiles, mixed media and more. This event is free to attend.
Enjoy and whatever you choose make sure to get your SWANK on!
