Never again will you have to utter the words, “there is nothing going on in Houston”! Each week, we will bring you five swanky (and hand-picked) events that are sure to keep your social life in check. From art shows to culinary festivals, speakeasies, concerts, live performances, and pop-up shops, there is always something to do and to get into in H-town! Check out the fun things to do in Houston this week:

Holiday Spirit Social (Monday, Nov 6th)

The holiday season is amongst us, and the Holiday Spirit Social has all the things you need to get ready for holiday entertaining! You will be able to: sample holiday cocktails perfectly paired with festive appetizers, learn how to create a three-course holiday meal incorporating bourbon in every course, test your palate with a guided Woodford Reserve tasting featuring holiday favorites chocolate, cranberry, and hazelnut, and much more! Tickets are $35 per person.

Nutcracker Market (Thursday, Nov 9th)

Before we crave turkeys or open Christmas gifts, we head to the Nutcracker Market to officially kick off the holiday season! It is a one-stop giant pop-up shop featuring over 280 merchants, offering unique items for everyone, including home décor, food, clothing, toys, toiletries, novelties, ornaments, pottery, pewter, accessories and more.

Houston Cinema Arts Festival (Thursday-Sunday, November 9th-12th)

From visual, literary, and performing arts, the Houston Cinema Arts Festival is an annual celebration of creative works. Although this festival is centered around film, it goes far beyond the confines of a movie theater. Over the course of 5 days, guests will enjoy exhibitions, live music, film screenings, artist talks, and much more. Individual screenings range from $10 to $20 and passes for the entire festival are $99.

Día de Muertos On The Esplanade (Friday, Nov 10th)

The Day of the Dead, Dia De Muertos, event is going down in East Downtown on the Esplanade! Make your way to celebrate and honor loved ones that have passed. This will be a day of art, family, and fun!

Blind Tasting Competition (Sunday, Nov 12th)

As the final step in Anvil’s extensive training program, trainees are required to taste 50 spirits and correctly name 47 of them. For their second, semi-annual Blind Tasting Competition, Anvil is accepting 50 entrants (bar professionals and spirits enthusiasts are welcome) to take on the challenge themselves! It’s $70 to enter.
