Wine lovers it’s time to dust your wine glasses off because The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo wine events start next month! For those that aren’t quite sure what the two have in common let us tell you…wine, wine, and more wine. In the month of November, The Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition kicks off the rodeo wine events. It’s a private judging event held each year, that determines which wines will be featured at the Roundup and Best Bites Competition. A qualified panel of expert judges spend countless hours tasting an array of wines to unearth the winners in categories ranging from Top Texas Wine to Top All Around Winery. Once this is done the winners are announced and the public (that’s us) gets to try all the winners out during the following events…
Roundup and Best Bites Competition
The Rodeo Uncorked! Roundup and Best Bites Competition is a premier event in the Southwest for those who wish to savor the delights of award-winning wines from the International Wine Competition and taste signature dishes submitted for competition by area catering institutions and restaurants. A highlight of the evening is the announcement of the top winners in the International Wine Competition. Winners ride off with custom-made coveted saddles, chaps and buckles. Attendees are the judges in the Best Bites Competition, selecting their favorite dishes from more than 85 culinary entries.
Champion Wine Garden
Winning wines from the Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition are featured at the Champion Wine Garden. It’s a great place to relax, take in the scenery and enjoy the sounds of live music, all while enjoying some of the best wines from around the world. Also in the wine garden you will have the opportunity for an exclusive wine education and tasting experience. Each educational opportunity is 90 minutes in length and will include approximately six wines for tasting. There also will be a small cheese plate and/or other snacks as slated for each seminar.
