It’s official – we are nearing the end of summer. While we will still feel the effects of the summer heat for a few more months, the true spirit of summer is coming closer to an end. If you’re anything like me you may have started out with great plans that never fully came to light. If this is the case or if you’re just looking to keep the fun going all the way to the last moments, here are some ideas that do not require you to have planned months in advance and allow you to still say you had a great summer!
Summertime is always full of outdoor music listening opportunities because of the great weather and the desire to just be outside. At night, when the stars are out to play, remember there is still plenty of time to catch a big musical act or some great local musicians.
Anything with a Twist
The painting and wine parties have been around for a while now, but there are so many other ways to get friends together to grab your favorite drink outside of a bar. A Trolley Pub Tour (picture a moving bar while you and your friends pedal around Houston, with a designated captain of course) sounds like the perfect, casual night around town. Festivals are some of the best tributes to different cultures or themes with performances, food, and drinks! Or, enjoy some crazy candy-filled drinks. I’ve seen candy-filled daiquiris and donut topped milkshakes at Candy Shack Daiquiris and Brain Freeze and insane toppings on brunch Bloody Mary’s all-around Houston. I’m planning to take advantage while my summer body is still slightly intact.
Be a Tourist
Whether you’re new to town or you’ve been here for a while, Houston is a top vacation destination. Undoubtedly, there are tourist attractions that you haven’t tried. Get a group together and pretend to be visitors and try a place you have driven by a million times, but have never experienced.
Right after the summer Olympics get ready for the Houston Texans football season to return with discounted tickets on sale. This is the perfect time to catch a game while the weather is still good.
In connection with being a tourist, you can even stay in Houston like a tourist. It’s been in the news for the past few years and never gets old! Find a hotel you’ve never been to, preferably with a pool, and stay a night or two to enjoy Houston from a different perspective.
