We fell in love with extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars all over again when we visited Olive & Vine on a day out in CityCentre. If the tasting bar doesn’t get your attention, the award winning EVOO’s and flavor-infused balsamic vinegars surely will! Offering great Christmas baskets during this holiday season, Olive & Vine is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a great gift idea for that cook in your life. When you stop by, try the “Warm Cinnamon Pear” balsamic vinegar…it’s too die for!
Skinny margaritas have become very popular not only because they are lower in calories than the average margarita (100 calories compared to over 600 calories) but they are typically not as sweet as a traditional margarita. A skinny margarita will still offer the “sweet bitterness” you enjoy in this tequila based cocktail, without losing the margarita taste. During our visit to the Metropolitan Cooking Show we came across SlimRitas, which have now become a standard in our homes. With only 100 calories per cocktail, you can certainly enjoy a fresh margarita without the guilt!
A few more new favorites we came across during our visit to the Metropolitan Cooking Show were the “Smither Family Salsa” and the “Dillapeno” from the Smither Family Kitchen. This salsa can stand alone as a dip, but we found it to be awesome in guacamole. The Dillapeno is great on deviled eggs and equally fab for a tuna salad! The dishes you can create and/or enhance with these two secret family recipes are limitless. These are great additions to any kitchen and for any cook.
