When we think of drunk food, things like burgers, pizza, things that are triple fried and dripping with grease usually come to mind. So I’m getting ready to throw out a curve-ball here, because the drunk food I’m talking about has nothing to do with any of that. In this case, it’s really drunken food! The whiskey loving team, Mike Raymond and Steve Long from Reserve 101, were not content just being a bad-ass world renowned whiskey bar, or even having us all going crazy for their adult push-pops that were full of Bourbon. So what did they do for their next trick…add a food menu that is drunk as a skunk!
Last month they debuted their new food menu, which was created by Nico Schibetta and Justin Beals, who are two young guys that are making a name for themselves on the food scene here in the city. The menu will change all the time, because they are adding new items every week. When we visited we fell hard for the Fig & Pancetta Flatbread (Knob Creek soaked figs, Pancetta and Mozzarella) and the Mezcal Marinated Tomato Salad (Baby Heirloom, Arugula, Lemonette, and Mezcal with Karbach Rodeo Clown Double IPA Balsamic). I am preparing myself, because once figs are out of season this flatbread will probably be gone until next season. At the very least, its replacement will be tasty and full of booze – winner, winner chicken dinner is my response to that.
In addition to introducing the new food menu, the guys also unveiled the new cocktail menu with almost 30 drinks on it! Did I die and go to heaven is all I was thinking as I sucked down a Nut & Honey (Amaretto, honey, lemon juice, and egg whites), Count of Monte Pisco (Pisco, Crème de Voilette, lemon juice, simple syrup, orange bitters, and egg whites), and a Banana Monkey Sour (Monkey Shoulder scotch, banana puree, simple syrup, lemon juice, and egg whites). It was all in the name of research (wink, wink).
