Breakfast is served
We here at Urban Swank LOVE to find new places that make us feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside! Well to say this place is new is not really fair, but to say this place finally has found their groove is more accurate. Let me first take you back so I can bring you current and you all can understand my excitement! Many of you probably remember the former French restaurant, Philippe Restaurant & Lounge on Post Oak that served its last dinner service Jan. 11, 2014 before reopening as Table on Post Oak with more American fare. The new concept really never took off and the place always seemed like a repurposed space that could be so much more. I could never put my finger on it because the space was amazing (even though I thought of many different ways I would have designed the lounge downstairs to make better use of space) and the menu selections and execution of the dishes were delicious so that wasn’t it either. Now fast forward to this space going through yet another reinvention and back to a French concept…welcome La Table Houston.
The view of Macarons from the stairs
I think in this case the 3rd time is a charm. This place is absolutely amazing and provides a complete experience! From the market, Marche, which offers cool locally sourced juices, snacks, and oils to the adorable French spirited bakery, Macarons, that serves breakfast all day. If you want something a little more formal you will want to head upstairs to the Chateau which has a more sophisticated lunch and dinner menu. The game changer for me is the Assouline bookstore that runs throughout the space. You will find books in all the nooks and crannies; they even find their way in the mix as you travel the stairs to the Chateau. La Table is the exclusive distributor of the luxury books in the area. So think about the space like this…you can grab a coffee and a quick breakfast. Head to the gym and stop back by for lunch and pastries in the bakery (you could even keep your yoga pants on because it’s just that casual downstairs). Finish your day by running errands and heading home to freshen up, just to meet your honey dip for a wonderful dinner in the Chateau. Yes, there is a little something for everyone to enjoy. And did I mention it’s gorgeous! The attention to detail from the menu selections to the antique silverware you use while dining has been careful thought out and is very much appreciated.
If you are still wondering, yes this is my new happy place spot. So don’t be surprised if you see me on any given morning sipping on coffee enjoying a pear tart or an egg white frittata.
