Location: 14008 Memorial Dr Ste. F, Houston, TX 77079
Type of Cuisine: American
Initial Thoughts: Nice decor!, tiny table setting for two, laid back vibe

I always love it when something new hits the suburbs. Not everyone wants to travel inside the loop to get good grub, so when Urban Kitchen announced that it would be coming to my “hood” I was excited. Located smack dab in the middle of the Memorial and Energy Corridor areas the location is prime. It’s next to other spots that I love and it’s an easy commute.

Urban Kitchen is are serving up eats from “morning, noon, and night” with a focus on American fare with a Southern twist offering up dishes like their Shrimp & Grits and Chicken & Waffles. They are open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner and have recently expanded their liquor license to support the needs of us cocktail lovers.

Come on…anything with bacon and a fried egg is a winner!  The burger was cooked to a medium temperature and was quite juicy.

I loved the Crispy Empanadas but the house chipotle cream sauce was a bit too much for me. The smokey flavor took away from the dish.

They are supporting our local breweries and we are all about that!

It is no secret that my last dying wish would be a bowl of guacamole or a bag of avocados so I did appreciate the large sliver that sat on top of each one of my Baja Fish Tacos.  And I guess they love chipotle because this dish was covered with their chipotle lime mayonnaise.  However, in this dish it worked.

Well, How Was It???

Urban Girl did enjoy Urban Kitchen. I think the prices are a bit high and the waitstaff could use some consistency (I was not told of the daily specials but another table was), but all in all…I am glad you decided to come to my “hood”.
