As the saying goes, “No great story ever started with a salad!”; now if you told that same story while cocktailing, the results would be altogether different. So what do you think you would have if you visited a bar where a majority of the cocktails created had a story? Well, that’s what bar manager/cocktail creator Patrick Abalos and his team are doing at Sidebar in The Woodlands. They are creating cocktails that have a story.
This little gem, which is located on the second floor of The Westin Hotel, is not what you would expect from a hotel bar. The ambiance is that of a cool trendy bar that one would find somewhere downtown. It’s a bar you would frequent and the fact that it’s inside a hotel only matters in terms of bonus points if you are staying there or have had too much to drink.
A look behind the bar is where the stories actually begin because they try to use spirits that are different and unique as much as possible; as well as using fresh ingredients and making their own juices, sours, and syrups.
On a recent visit, I decided to try all the cocktails on the Summer Cocktail menu. I must admit there was not one I did not like. Below are the ones I enjoyed the most and felt that you all would too. I know it’s officially Fall, and the new menu will be coming out soon, but you can still order all the cocktails mentioned below.
