Nena Gonzalez has been making tamales all her life, just ask her son Juan (he’s one of our very own instructors). We’ve convinced her to share her expertise and recipes so you, too, can learn to make these succulent holiday treats:

  • Green Chile Tamale with Creamy Green Tomatillo Sauce;
  • Spicy Pork Tamale with Salsa Roja;
  • Bean Tamale with Crema; and
  • Sweet Surprise Tamale

 

Ultimate Cookies with Julia Usher

Delve into the world of cookie magic, where you can make edible works of art. Julia Usher, a master in the art of cookie decoration, will teach you 12 techniques including:top coating; outlining; flooding (aka running in sugar); dipping; beadwork; marbling; sanding; stenciling; rubber stamping; dusting; painting and appliqué work. You’ll practice on a dozen pre-baked cookies cut into holiday shapes and will take your masterpieces with you.

$70, includes one copy of Ultimate Cookies.

 

Wine Workshop: Bubbles and Reds for the Holidays

Join our resident expert on a tour of the most popular varieties of grapes that provide us with some of the world’s most sought after wines.  The selections will be from regions throughout the world that are highly respected for producing trademark wines.  In addition to tasting the featured wines, you will also learn about  what to look for when tasting wine, how the grapes are grown, techniques utilized in the winery and much more. You’ll sample:

  • Domaine Laroque Cabernet Franc
  • Baron Fuente Champagne
  • Matthew Fritz Pinot Noir
  • Riondo Punto Rosso Prosecco
  • Hans Pfeiffer Riesling Qba

Thursday, December 27 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Enjoy some time together in our kitchen as you and your child  make these little cakes that are the perfect treat. Learn to measure, mix, bake and frost:
