Where Did We Go?
Los Tios – Sugar Land
3308 Highway 6 South, Sugar Land, Texas 77478
What’s the Skinny?
We love lots of things from our home state and Tex-Mex is very close to the top of the list. It’s funny because after we say how much we love it the next question that usually follows is, “Who has your favorite Tex-Mex?” The answer we tell them is not that simple because we go to different places for different things. However, we can say with certainty that Los Tios Mexican Restaurant is on the list.
They are like the Cheers of Tex-Mex Restaurants in our city – you know, a place where if you are a regular and everyone knows your name. A large percent of the staff have been with them for 25 plus years, so it’s really like visiting friends and family.
Just as they’ve grown-up with the city for the last 40 plus years, families have been going from generation to generation.
We recently had dinner at the newly renovated location in Sugar Land and had a great time. The only thing that has changed is they got a new look – kind of like getting a new pair of shoes or a new hairdo.
What Did We Love?
So, we are both 6’s!
Even though the combination plates and their associated numbers have been around wayyyy before we were conceived (that’s our story and we are sticking to it), they are still some of the most popular items on the menu. The Combination Plate No. 6 is what we order – a trio of goodness served with a puffy queso, a cheese enchilada, and a beef taco. These plates do not change EVER so no worries if the only thing you remember is that you like the #6. Just go for it!
The Anniversary Nachos are chips filled with layers of Tex Mex love. Starting with an individual “poncho”, each is piled high beginning with frijoles, then comes the beef and chicken fajitas followed by the melted cheese, which is then topped with guacamole and pico de gallo and sealed with a kiss using jalapenos. We can easily say that it’s one of our favorites.
And when you want to sample one of everything, try the Acapulco Dinner that comes with a beef taco, puffy queso, guacamole salad, cheese enchilada, and a tamale. This way you don’t have to choose! You are sure to have enough for dinner and a doggie bag. Can you say nap time?
