Where Did We Go?

Local Foods
2555 Kirby Drive, Houston, Texas 77019

What’s the Skinny?

Local Foods is now giving you two ways to get your fill. The new location on Kirby and Westheimer became the second edition of the popular restaurant that is just about as “local” as one could get. From the decor (antique items purchased from shops in Round Top, TX.) to the meats and breads used to make their delicious gourmet sandwiches, one would be hard pressed to find something that wasn’t local. Giving you a few more reasons to visit, the larger Kirby location boasts a patio, full bar and has expanded its menu to offer a few more dinner options. Even the bar has been stocked with liquor and beer from local distilleries and breweries.

There is no one way to describe this place as it has become many things to many people. It’s inviting, bright, busy, cool, artsy, and eclectic all at the same time. And whether you drop by for their popular Crunchy Chicken or Truffled Egg Salad Sandwich, grab a Mintade (the must-have beverage made with orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit juice, and mint) to go, or make a few new friends over dinner (order the Rotisserie Chicken) at one of the communal tables, you will truly learn what it means to “Eat Local”.

Tip: Although the sandwiches are stellar, don’t miss the salads and the tasty sides.

What Did We Love?

Is it bad that we are in LOVE with the fact that they have a full bar?!?! Well call us bad girls because we freakin’ love it. Seriously, when we heard that the new location would have one, we thought okay now that is how something that is already great gets even better by adding booze :-).

We are also in love with the new Achiote Pork Torta (avocado, cilantro, pineapple chips, and aioli on a bolillo bun). It is pretty solid and dare we say it could give ones served at a few of our favorite Authentic Mexican dives a run for their money.
