What’s the Skinny?
Chef Roberto Castre loves giving us something to talk about when it comes to food. He is always refreshing and changing his menu to keep our tummies full and happy. Last month Latin Bites introduced a new menu that shows love for all of South America and not just Peruvian dishes, which has been their focus in the past.
What Did We Love?
It is not a daunting task for us to find a few standout dishes:
Volcano Rice (served tableside) – Pork, Chinese sausage, chicken, special rice, carrots, zucchini, red bell peppers, snow peas, green onions, white sesame seed, and egg yolk
You will never look at regular run of the mill basic fried rice the same. It’s kinda like flying first class and then on your next flight going back down to general population coach.
Latin Bites Southern Style Chicken – Fried chicken recipe, purple mashed potatoes, sautéed sweet brussel sprouts, and honey-bacon glaze
We expected it to be good, because we love everything Chef Castre puts in front of us. However, we didn’t expect it to be FINGER LICKING AMAZING! You will be impressed – trust us.
Palta Rellena – Half avocado, potato salad, apple, beets, carrots, green peas, queso fresco, micro mint, and avocado ailoi
It’s easy to get lost in the details with this complex, but simple dish. Not overly creamy, as one would expect, the textures play well off one another uniting to provide the perfect bite.
Black Truffle Ravioli – Ricotta-black truffle ravioli, marsala wine sauce, cherry tomatoes confit, demo glace mushrooms, fresh arugula, and fresh parmesan cheese
Truffle has been the buzz word all year but don’t let the “hype” keep you away from this aesthetically pleasing plate of goodness. Not being big ricotta fans, because some places just go too far with the excessive filling, we enjoyed the sharpness from the dish. She’s definitely a crowd pleaser.
Urban Swank did receive a complimentary tasting, but the opinions expressed are our own.
