The fun and excitement of the weekend continued to be ever present as we rolled into day two and day three of the New York Wine & Food Festival. Since New York City is such a great place to visit, in addition to the events we were covering, we wanted to check out a few local restaurants, continue our shopping excursions and make sure we had time to rest up for our evening events. When the festival came to an end, it was bittersweet. All we can say is “what a weekend!”
For day two of the festival, we took part in Bobby Flay’s “Tequila and Tacos” event. This event and after party was not only sold out, but turned out to be the most successful event of the weekend! This event was the highlight of the our stay as well. We got the opportunity to meet several of the celebrity chefs including Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis, and Aaron Sanchez. In addition, we got the chance to catch up with Chef Marc Murphy and Chef Timon Balloo who we has the pleasure of meeting in Miami earlier this year. The chefs were in their element and they were having as much fun, if not more fun, than the guests.
On day three, Andrew Zimmerman’s “Trucks and Trains” event showcased the city’s most popular food trucks. From Korean BBQ, to Philly Cheesesteaks, to Pupusas, just about every cuisine was represented. The grammy award winning “Train” gave an awesome live performance that we are sure was a memorable experience for all. The only downfall of the event were the long lines. This is typical of our experience with food truck events, so we were not surprised. We only got the opportunity to try a few things and they were hit and miss.
Overall, I think we enjoyed the experience (thanks to Train) and the long lines took a back seat.
