You name it, they’ve got it. Even the things you wish existed, but would never think in a million years you would find. That is exactly how I felt when I dropped by Sugar Rush Cake Gallery. The bakery, located in a hidden strip center off 610 and Stella Link, is filled to the brim with goodies. In addition to the traditional cakes, cupcakes, and cookies, you can also indulge in tea cakes, pies, cobblers, cake balls, cheesecakes, brownies, and more.

When you see names like Peach Cobbler, Dreamsicle, Bread Pudding, and Butter Pecan, at least for me, the last thing that comes to mind are cupcakes and cakes. After my first visit, I couldn’t wait to jump in the car to tell my husband I was bringing home a Peach Cobbler Cake (a vanilla cake filled and topped with peach cobbler and a glorious cream cheese icing). I recall the exact moment and I remember him stating over and over again, “Peach Cobbler CAKE”. Yes, CAKE. This is where Sugar Rush won me over – their selection of “specialty” items (although very typical for them) and their ability to transform your favorite dessert into cupcakes and even cakes. And to find treats that I grew up on like Sock-It-To-Me Cake and 7-Up Pound Cake, that I could only get on special occasions, was icing on the cake, literally.

Unlike many bakeries, their desserts really taste homemade as if my grandmother had baked their German Chocolate Cake herself. The toppings are fresh, the cakes are moist, and everything seems to be prepared with love.

I look forward to many future visits to Sugar Rush and hope I have convinced you to do the same. I highly recommend going with a cupcake to sample your flavor of choice then upgrade to a mini cake (or a regular-sized cake) once you have decided on your favorites. You can check out the menu here.
