One of my favorite things to do is people watch, and watching people with their food takes this sport to new heights. Like do they eat in a pattern, are they food mixers, or do they not want anything on the plate to touch?! One of the newest to add is “How Do People Ramen”?!?! Last year during a visit to NYC restaurant Ippudo, I observed many different ways people ate their Ramen, and became intrigued. Some were traditional, others were combination styles, and some just straight up free-styled it. It was so much fun to watch and see all these different styles yielding the same end result…have fun and enjoy the experience! So by all means slurp and drink your meal to your satisfaction! Which leads me back to my original question; how do you Ramen?
Below Urban Girl demonstrates 3 of the techniques that were most common that afternoon:
1. Slurp & Drink: Make sure you take in air while slurping the noodles to aerate and enhance the taste by bringing out the full flavor of the broth. After all the noodles have been eaten, you pick up the bowl and drink the broth.
2. Double-Time: This method has you picking up a few noodles with the chopsticks and putting a little broth in the spoon. Then you slurp the noodles and immediately chase it with broth.
3. Combination: Here you follow the first two steps of method number two, and then combine the noodles and broth on the spoon. This way you get broth and noodle hitting your palate at the same time.
