The Houston Margarita Festival will refill the city’s appetite for Houston’s favorite drink and thriving food scene at Discovery Green on Saturday, October 25 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets starting at $25 are on sale now through the official website,, and at all Houston area Fiesta stores.

Established in 2012, the Houston Margarita Festival continues to grow in popularity year after year, offering the ultimate margarita experience with a full day of drinks, food, music, dancing and more in the heart of Downtown Houston. With an expanded footprint, 20,000 margarita lovers are expected to attend the 2014 festival at Discovery Green and the first 8,000 attendees will receive a commemorative Houston Margarita Festival cup.

“The response from the Houston community to our first two festivals has been remarkable,” said Jirmar Proctor, founder and organizer of the Houston Margarita Festival. “Seeing thousands of people come together in celebration of our city’s culture is an amazing experience and we are looking forward to celebrating on an even larger scale this year, with plenty of food, drinks, music and dancing to go around!”

Margarita lovers can treat their taste buds to 17 unique flavors of margaritas made with 100 percent agave tequila, including: green apple, pumpkin spice, jalapeño pepper, coconut, peach mango, cucumber apple and more. The event will showcase a wide variety of local Mexican, barbeque, seafood and Cajun cuisine, as well as a full schedule of live entertainment. Bands include: DJ David Cruz, DJ Good Grief, Grupo Latitude, Bayou City Brass Band, La Orchestra Salmerum, Mambo Jazz Kings, Paul Ramirez Band, Step Rideaux and more. The festival will once again include a salsa competition with free entry open to non-professional dance couples, co-hosted by salsa enthusiast and instructor, Salsa Eddy, and Houston Margarita Festival competition organizer and dance pro, Crissy Poole. As in past years, the crowd will determine the winner of the competition, in true Apollo-style, with the title going to the couple receiving the loudest applause. Festivalgoers can also enter or watch the limbo competition, which is open to all festival attendees.

The Houston Margarita Festival has partnered with various local nonprofits and organizations as beneficiaries for the event, including: Precint2gether, Society for Biological Engineers (UofH), Cougars on Campus (UofH), Glass Slipper Foundation, Sigma Phi Omega (UofH), Tribeca Inc., St. Martins Youth, The Roshard Mayweather Memorial Scholarship, Urban Souls Dance Company, Women of Virtue Pageants, Twi-Light Twelve Foundation, Love Missionary Baptist Church, Initiative For All, Vessels Interceding Our Nation, East Harris County Empowerment Council, Mito Camp, The Resource Group and DLW Scholarship & Charitable.
