Eating healthy isn’t always as straightforward as one would imagine. Getting your hands on fresh ingredients is just the start. Finding the perfect recipe that is not bland and has some flavor to it, and choosing the right blend of spices and seasonings leads to more learning curves than I prefer to tackle.

Being a new mom (now almost 4 months into this new life), cooking has kinda taken a back seat; more like a third-row seat. Trying to choose lighter fare while caring for an infant who 100% depends on you for just about everything is a major task. Enter stage right, Freshly, a healthy ready-to-eat meal delivery service.

Yes, I know, you are probably asking what makes Freshly so different from everyone else that is doing the same? Well, that’s a good question and one I asked myself before taking the opportunity to sample a few of their meals. The downfall for many of these companies is finding something I actually want to eat. I am always down to eat a healthy meal, but can I enjoy it too? Is that too much to ask? So what sets them apart? For one taste.

I found Freshly’s meals to be packed with flavor and was happy to find their meals are gluten-free, made with all natural and locally-sourced ingredients, and are free of artificial sweeteners. Delivered in recycled and biodegradable materials, and of course shipped cold, my choices for a week of good eating included their Chicken Rustica with Roasted Cauliflower, Herb Crusted Cod with Fire Roasted Tomato-Fennel Sauce, Homestyle Meatloaf with Creamy Potatoes & Spinach, Sicilian Style Chicken Parmigiana with Penne Marinara, Turkey Chili, and the Garden Omelet. Sounds pretty good right?

Upon receiving and taking inventory of my meals, I was immediately impressed by the packaging. These babies were sealed tight; so much to the point, it took me a bit of maneuvering to get some of the meals open. Once I got passed that small feat, I went straight for the meatloaf (one of my personal faves) for lunch. This was followed by the Chicken Rustica, which ended up being my top pick for its rich and robust sauce that I would swear has way more calories than advertised! And for bonus points, let me not forget to mention the omelet that was extremely tasty and filled to the brim with fresh veggies that did not taste like a rubber band after being microwaved.

These curated meals are quite affordable (six meals will run you $69), and they have a nice variety of options to choose from. The menu selection is ever changing, as Freshly adds 4 meals each month while others are rotated out. The best part – all meals are ready in 2 minutes or less! Say goodbye to those pots and pans and grocery store visits. Freshly has got you covered.
