Owner: Neil Werner (Houston Truck)

Type of Cuisine: All things Lobster!

Places You May Spot the Truck: These guys are all over the city, which gives more opportunity for everyone to check them out. Catch them at the Houston Food Park, Sugar Land Imperial Farmers Market, and Domain At City Centre (http://www.cousinsmainelobster.com/houston/)

Notable Eats: UMMM the entire menu! This place is like a lobster lover’s happy place. They offer both Maine and Connecticut Lobster Rolls – both are stellar. And the Maine Lobster Tail is AMAZINGLY fresh and tasty with just the right amount of drawn butter.

Fun Facts:

  • Cousins Maine Lobster was started by cousins Jim Tselikis and Sabin Lomac (who are very cute by the way).
  • They gained national exposure after going onto ABC’s Shark Tank and walking away with the money they asked for and a new business partner Barbara Corcoran.
  • They launched a food truck that celebrated their beloved Maine and served the bounty of their state the only way they knew it: fresh.

Here’s the Skinny: FINALLY!!! Cousins Maine Lobster has proudly rolled into our city in the last few weeks – can I get a WHOO HOO! These guys are the real deal. They’ve been bringing the freshest Maine seafood to the masses since 2012.

I recently took the opportunity to track down the truck in West Houston. Myself and the 30 plus other diners were waiting for them to open for lunch with one thing on our minds – sinking our teeth into some Gulf of Maine lobster. Looking at the menu online for about 30 minutes before my visit still did not make my decision any easier when it was finally my turn. So in true food writer style I just got all my top picks! And that seemed to be a great decision because they were all fantastic! I seriously felt like what I was eating could hold it’s own against any one of the top lobster spots on the East Coast. Here’s what I had:

Connecticut Lobster Roll

Connecticut Lobster Roll – Maine lobster, served warmed with butter and lemon, New England style roll
Maine Lobster Roll – Maine lobster, served chilled, touch of mayo, New England style roll

Cousins Lobster Tacos – Maine lobster, served with cabbage, pico de gallo, cilantro lime sauce, on local handmade flour tortillas

OHHHH yeah…I also had a Blueberry Maine Root Soda (Double Yum)
