As a food lover, I welcome all good food. However, I am always on the lookout for dishes that are beyond good and give me that little something extra. It can be as basic as mashed potatoes or steak frites, but it doesn’t hurt when it’s a steak tartare or an out of this world soufflé!  Keeping that in mind and because I’m often asked what’s the best meal I’ve eaten lately, I wanted to share those finds with you all.

Many times these dishes are only shared on our social media accounts or in conversations since we don’t really focus on just one dish or meal. So, I’m going to give you dishes (or cocktails) on the brain, which was inspired by y’all and a listage I did last year that everyone seemed to really enjoy, click here to check it out!

Recently, I had lunch with several food friends at Beaver’s On Westheimer. Now I’ve had many meals there and have really enjoyed the majority of the dishes on the menu – from the BBQ to the fried catfish with jalapeño cheese grits. Let’s face it and tell the truth…Chef Arash Kharat can cook his ass off! I mean seriously this man is a beast on the grill and in the kitchen.

Serrano Oysters at Beaver’s

The dish that was new to me and left me thinking, “Why in the hell am I just trying this for the first time!” and that has been on my brain are the Serrano Oysters. Oysters are one of my favorites things to eat and these served up major flavor- that BUTTAH. They are broiled in garlic-serrano butter, then topped with parmesan cheese. These oysters were everything – SERIOUSLY! If you are a charbroiled oyster lover and have tried Drago’s or ACME in New Orleans (known as places that have some of the best around) get ready to be blown away because those are ten times better!

Other Things That You May Want To Try

  • The Beaver Den is a fun area for the adults (no kids allowed) to unwind and enjoy a drink. If you like whiskey, they have a great selection.
  • The Chicken Fried Steak with the bacon-shroom gravy is OMG kind of good.
  • Two words – BRISKET TACOS!
