Tanteo® Spirits Company establishes an entirely new tequila category with Tanteo® Jalapeño Tequila, an ultra-premium 100% Blue Weber Agave blanco tequila hand-infused with the flavors of Mexico, using fresh, all-natural locally grown jalapeños (never any additives or artificial flavorings). Conceived by Jonathan Rojewski, CEO and co-founder of Tanteo Spirits, the Tanteo Tequila collection is an idea-realized thanks in part to the 2006 actions of the Consejo Regular de Tequila (CRT), Mexico’s tequila regulator, which lifted its strict ban on non-agave infusions.
Tanteo Tequilas are distilled, infused and bottled in the historic mountain town of Tequila, Mexico. Beginning with the finest handpicked Blue Weber agave, which is grown in the volcanic rich soils of Jalisco and harvested at the peak of maturity, Tanteo is then distilled using five generations of tequila-making experience – resulting in a blanco that is rich in character and bold in taste. The tequila is then infused using a multi-step, propriety process using fresh, local whole ingredients that have been meticulously chosen for their quality and taste.
“There are some superb blanco, reposado and añejo tequilas on the market already,” explains Rojewski. “We thought it was time for a superior tasting tequila that not only celebrates the intensely rich traditions and heritage of Mexico’s national drink but also satisfies the contemporary thirst for bold, refined flavors and a sophisticated taste profile.”
For the Tanteo Jalapeño, separate infusions of organic jalapeños are blended to capture and highlight the aroma, taste and heat of the pepper, while perfectly balancing with the blanco’s pure taste. Tanteo Jalapeno is quite possibly the perfect tequila for cocktails – just spicy enough, with a kiss of heat on the finish and no burn.
Launched in the spring of 2009 in New York City, Tanteo is rapidly growing into a nationwide phenomenon, thanks in no small part to the signature Tanteo Jalapeño Margarita. Served in restaurant establishments ranging from trendy Mexican hot-spot La Esquina to Nationwide restaurant chains such as Hawaiian fusion eatery, Roy’s, the Jalapeño Margarita meets consumer demand for spice in their cocktails (Market Watch, March 2012).
Restaurant establishments and consumers alike both recognize the ease of making this signature cocktail due to simplicity of the ingredients andthe lack of muddling or creating house infusions.
“We’ve established the taste complexity in the liquid so the consumer or barman doesn’t have to”, said Rojewski, “if we’ve done our job well, then only three simple ingredient are required”.
