Downtown eating gets quicker, healthier and more mobile

Sticking to New Year’s resolutions just became a lot tastier! Beginning Wednesday, January 2, four of Houston’s most in-demand food trucks will dish out fast and casual gourmet eats at Houston Pavilions. The trucks will provide lunchtime offerings from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

“We’ve seen the demand for more relaxed lunchtime dining alternatives in downtown Houston,” said Karen Mulville, general manager of Houston Pavilions. “As many Houstonians plan to test their taste buds, get healthier and try new things in 2013, there is no better time to bring daily food truck service to the Pavilions.”

Downtown foodies can sample savory selections from the eclectic truck lineup. Try any of the all-vegetarian, vegan-friendly options at Monster PBJ, offering extended service until 6 p.m. on Mondays. Those resolving to eat more balanced meals can choose from any of the six gourmet wraps from It’s a Wrap! on Tuesdays. Refuel on Wednesdays and Fridays with American favorites from Golden Grill, and now enjoy comfort food from Ladybird, the converted school bus already visiting the Pavilions, two times a week on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The trucks will be located at the corner of Main Street and Dallas Street in front of Forever XXI. The Pavilions will provide tables and chairs nearby– creating an outdoor space for mobile food aficionados to eat in comfort. The restaurants on wheels broaden Houston Pavilions’ culinary offerings, which already include upscale options like McCormick & Schmick’s, Mia Bella Trattoria, III Forks Steakhouse, Crossroads, Andalucia and Guadalajara del Centro.

Houston Pavilions is located at 1201 Fannin and spans three city blocks. To visit, hop on the free Greenlink bus and exit at Dallas and San Jacinto, take Metro Rail to Main Street Square Metro Station or enjoy a quick walk from many of the nearby landmarks. Convenient, connected parking is available in the garage located on Clay between Main and Fannin. Visitors can safely access the Pavilions via a Sky Bridge.
