Watch out, Eddie V’s Happy Hour just got a major makeover! In addition to their classic appetizers and wines by the glass, Eddie V’s recently launched their brand new “teasers” and hand-shaken cocktails on their happy hour menu.  I’m always a sucker for a good happy hour, so I jumped at the chance to try out these new dishes and cocktails.

Lobster and Crab Wontons

While the original appetizers on their menu were a force to be reckoned with, these new “teasers” made their own splash on the menu ranging between $6-$8. The Lobster and Crab Wontons were light and crispy with HUGE chunks of lobster and crab in them and the Lollipop Lamb Chops were tender with the perfectly balanced tastes of sweet and savory.

Blackened Fish Taco

What stole the show for me, though, were the Blackened Fish Tacos and Beef Banh Mi Sliders. The tortillas for the tacos were handmade and crisped up perfectly to get the lightest crunch when you bite in without the taco completely falling apart in your hand. The delicious fish inside is paired with microgreens and roasted corn pico to make the ultimate fish taco. My favorite part of the Banh Mi sliders was the huge chunk of beef cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The beef with the pickled cucumbers and stir fried vegetables slapped in between a buttery bun made for the perfect bite.

But what good is the food at Happy Hour if you’re not sipping a handmade cocktail on the side? The unveiled innovative hand-shaken cocktails did not disappoint, all for $7. You can order their twist on a whiskey classic, the Bulleit sour, featuring Bulleit Bourbon, honey, fresh lemon and lime sour mix topped with a black cherry. I’m partial to Spicy Margaritas and Eddie V’s rendition was hands down one of the best I’ve had with a Fresno pepper that added a spice that tickled my taste buds without making me want to reach for my water after every sip. If you’re looking for the perfect summer cocktail, though, the Real McCoy takes the cake. Using fresh grapefruit and lime juices with 3-year Aged Silver Real McCoy Rum, it’s the kind of beverage you can drink for hours by the pool or sitting on a patio.

If you’re looking for a classic cocktail, Eddie V’s also offers a hand-shaken Cosmopolitan. Or you can channel your inner James Bond and order a hand-shaken vodka or gin martini that you can choose to be poured over bleu cheese-stuffed green olives.

All in all, I think Eddie V’s made a brave choice updating their classic and well-known Happy Hour menu and the risk paid off in a big way. If you’re looking for a new Happy Hour venue for a company event or just for a small group of friends, consider Eddie V’s lounge or beautiful outdoor patio any day of the week. All the new teasers were delicious and the perfect partners to their unveiled hand-shaken cocktails and all for under $8.
