Looking back, I had no idea that the placement of a wicker basket at my cashier station would lead to a life long admiration for some of the best pralines I have had to date. In my high school years, not that long ago (smile), I worked at a Walgreens. During my tenure there, the Aunt Aggie De’s Pralines became a standard in my store and an almost “hard to miss” item as you reached the checkout. I started my affair with Aunt Aggie De’s Pralines around 1993 and have continued to frequent my local Walgreens for this tasty and buttery treat since then. Owner and Founder, Eleanor Harren, started her business at the age of 55 in 1987 when she would personally make each praline by hand in her own kitchen. Now Aunt Aggie De’s sells over $2 million pralines each year! Talk about growth. Hey, the product really does sell itself!

So what makes Aunt Aggie De’s Pralines so great? Well, that’s easy:

1. The creamy texture
2. The ratio of “whole” pecans (not small pieces)
3. No preservatives
4. Not overly sweet
5. Only 260 calories!
6. Did I mention the texture?

And I am only naming a few 🙂

So, if you enjoy pralines, you will fall head over heels for these. Aunt Aggie De’s has remained true to her original recipe and I have been a witness to that for almost 20 years!

The Urban Swank Girls will be visiting owner Eleanor Harren and Aunt Aggie De’s soon and we will bring you a sneak peek into what makes her pralines so awesome (well, not the secret stuff of course:-)). We are looking forward to our trip and learning the story behind this special treat that has become a Christmas tradition in my family. So stayed tuned!
