In this series, I will share my love for timepieces and the designers and manufacturers that create some of my faves. What attracts me to a watch? Although I think the craftmanship is super important, the bezel, dial, and band are the three things that get me excited. I treat my watch like I treat a pair of earrings and mascara – I never leave home without them!

Although the brand hit the scene in 1998, Nixon was one of my more recent finds. I am always on the lookout for new watch lines and I came across Nixon about 2 years ago when I was looking for a more “trendy” watch to add to my collection. Nixon is a very unique company in that they not only focus on watches, but they also create complete collections (for both men and women) that include items such as wallets, iPhone phone cases/covers, and headphones.

I loved the concept behind the brand as well. The masterminds behind Nixon’s “style meets function” approach are a group of individuals whose passions are all infused into the accessories they create. Categorized by their first loves, like “Snow”, “Surf”, and “Skate”, the various collections are influenced by the style (and life) of each team member. They make accessories that reflect the lives they live and hold firm to the idea of the journey being more important than the destination. My kind of team.

The options are vast and mix a blend of unique ideas to create several collections like the Marbleized collection that focuses on camouflage-like designs that are a bit rugged but still quite functional; The Small Time Teller collection that offers a line of smaller watches which are the perfect size to pair along with your favorite set of bangles; the Watercolor Mint collection which is my favorite for three reasons – it’s flirty, feminine and right on trend with the Spring floral fashions; the Washed Out collection that has some great denim pieces, the Naturel collection with its subtle design is just like the perfect leather jacket that gets better with age, and for you bling lovers, the Crystal collection.

With that said who wouldn’t fall in love with a brand whose mantra is…”We make the little shit better”. Nuff said.
