We are all about a great event and when that event benefits a great cause/charity we give it two thumbs up. We recently attended the 7th annual IIDA Product Runway fashion design competition benefiting the Houston Furniture Bank. The show gives designers the opportunity to showcase their skills by designing a garment made from traditional interior materials that follow a particular theme (emotion) – this year’s theme was “True Colours”.
We must say all the teams did a fabulous job, and we found ourselves changing our mind on which was our favorite as each look graced the runway. In addition to the amazing looks, as each model took to the stage, they performed based on their assigned theme.
With emotions ranging from Vivacious, Confident and Brave, to Daring, Wicked, and Rebellious, the crowd was definitely in for a treat. However, there could only be one best in show, and that title went to….WHR Artichects! They choose the color coffee bean and created the entire look around this color. A few of the materials that were used in creating this award winning design included: Felt Backing for the base of the jacket, Fused Nickel Bronze for the show stopping dress, and Carpet Yarn for the top layer, jacket and skirt; their theme was “optimistic”.
