There are exciting things happening in Houston these days. Namely inside the loop by way of the River Oaks District. Have you checked it out yet? There’s shopping, a fitness facility, dining, and entertainment. Each month there is something new opening and this will continue until it’s complete. One of the shops that opened at the end of last year that made us smile is menswear brand Bonobos.

Bonobos Guideshop is a new take on retail that blends online and offline shopping — a growing trend in retail nationwide that other brands like Warby Parker, Bauble Bar and Rent the Runway have followed. The Guideshop concept is innovating the way brand’s think about retail and is revolutionizing the in-person shopping experience blending the online and offline worlds to focus on top notch service and eliminating the hassles of traditional retail (lines, crowds, broken sizes, awkward fitting room experience, etc.).

Before they opened last year they invited me out and my choice of male guest to come out and check out the experience. I invited the OH SO fashionable Dominique (Dom) McGhee of The Monster Lifestyle blog to be my guest.

Upon entering the store and getting things started the personal shopper offered us a beer, water, or a soda before getting started. Then he talked to Dom about his style and what he was looking for today (we wanted to get the full treatment as if we were a real customer). He talked about the current trends and style featured throughout the store, and then started pulling items and putting looks together. Once this was done a look was decided upon. At this point the order is done online because the store does not keep inventory. The orders usually take only a few days to arrive.

So what did we think about the store and experience? We loved it! This concept is great and is geared directly toward men and the way they shop. There is also a little something for everyone from the gents who likes to be suited and booted to the fashion forward millennials.
