Since we love shopping for everything from apparel and beauty products to culinary products – we thought adding a Shop Talk section would be fun. In this section, we will bring you new shops from all over the world (online and brick & mortar), interviews with shop owners and designers, unique boutiques, and other times we may just have fun and just do a little shop talk!

Q. Congratulations on your fashion week debut! Can you tell us more about that experience?
A. Thank you! In a nutshell, it was amazing. I’d say it was a nail-biter from the jump because I literally had no clue when I was actually going to be able to begin the collection. EXPENSIVE is a bit of an understatement when you work for yourself and are really just starting to get the hang of things business-wise, all in all, I wouldn’t trade any of it! I started my collection about 3 weeks before my show (Feb 9)! God truly blessed people to be in my life to help me get everything I needed and then some to pursue my dream of showing in fashion week!
Q. When did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as a designer?
A. All my life I thought I was going to be a basketball player, I changed that around the age of 13/14. I always wanted to be an actress and fashion illustrator, but it wasn’t until I was maybe 19 that I realized I wanted to learn how to really design. I didn’t fully embrace the thought until 2014 when I quit my job at a bank to pursue design full time as a swimsuit designer.
Q. What are you fascinated by at the moment and how does it feed into your work?
A. I’ve always been fascinated by my surroundings, random things, architecture, decorations.. anything that is seemingly minding its own business catches my eye. I like to use those things and incorporate them into what I decide to create that day.
Q. What can you tell us about your fashion line and upcoming collections?
A. I’ll be bringing back my initial ideas of swimwear for the summer sooo.. I’m pretty excited to go back to where I first began!
Q. How do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?
A. When women wear my clothing I want them to feel powerful sexiness that exudes through their pores, almost as if they are putting on their superwoman suit! I want them to automatically feel their inner sexy, confident, powerful nature come out!
