Have I told you lately that I am a complete product junkie, and here “lately” means in the last 5 posts, since I say it all the time! Yes, I seriously have a problem walking passed kitchen gadgets, beauty products, and make-up without buying something. And to make matters worse, I am not looking for a cure and don’t want to be healed! My latest product obsession is with lipsticks; more specifically lipsticks that have staying power. Since I am always attending events and mixing and mingling; I need a long lasting lipstick that is gonna get me through my day/night. So I went on a shopping spree to find some longwear lipsticks. I purchased 7 different brands and colors, and found 3 that really gave me everything I was looking for in longwear lipstick- staying power, feel, and intensity of color.

Wearing NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil felt pretty good for a dry matte. However, I did not want to take any chances with extra dryness and unsightly flakiness on my lips, so I did some exfoliating and extra moisturizing the night before. I wore this lipstick for my birthday (in a different color) and it blew me away! I had this on for about 10 hours which included 3 rounds of drinks, dinner, dancing, then followed by more drinking. I did not freshen up on lips once. The color was not as vibrant as it was in the first few hours, but it still looked good.

Wearing M.A.C.  Retro Matte in Relentless Red

M.A.C.’s Retro Matte is extremely smooth and goes on easy. It’s very lightweight and most importantly has staying power. The color I selected is bold and bright, and it appears that way with just one application. I only had this one on for about 3 hours, but felt it would have been able to compete with my other two picks just fine.

M.A.C. Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Prolong

The M.A.C. Pro Longwear Lipcreme offers an ultra rich creamy texture, with a nice soft sheen finish. It does become a lot more firm as it dries and takes on a more matte feel. I wanted more intense color so I layered on about 3 coats and then bloated my lips to keep the matte finish. It did well for me and lasted for about 5 hours which included dinner and 2 cocktails.

Until soon…Toodles!
