Last week the beauty line that makeup lovers and the beauty industry have been waiting for dropped! After months of social media teasers, Rihanna introduced the world to Fenty Beauty on September 8th! Not only did she launch Fenty Beauty during Fashion Week in New York, a BOSS chick move by the way, but the girl came out the gate with 40 different shades of foundation! That’s right four-zero…40!
Many were uber impressed with the millennial pink packaging that slightly resembles KKW beauty line packaging, and other were surprised that the collection had so many different items – concealers and contour sticks, makeup brushes, highlighters, lip gloss, primer, blot paper and powder. However, the majority of us were excited that there were so many shades of the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation; for the palest of skin to the extra rich melanin-enriched skin.
The complete line is now available at all Sephora stores (including the ones in JCPenny’s) and on the Fenty Beauty website. But if you are looking for the foundation and you are of darker skin you will have to wait! After being in the marketplace for only 2 days all Sephora’s online and across the nation have sold out of foundation, along with the Fenty Beauty website. Wait what! I thought many makeup brands said they don’t make the darker shades because they will not sell! Can someone explain to me how this is possible; I’m asking for a friend (in my sarcastic voice, while giving major side-eye)?!?!
Well it looks like in just a few short days RiRi has taught many in the beauty game that beauty products should be inclusive to all and not exclusive! Okay, now that she’s walked into the room and demanded all the attention please seat up and take notes! Here are the items that I picked up over the weekend. The store was crowded, but the Fenty Beauty area was even crazier. I was blown away by all the people trying to get their hands on the products.
Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in 430 (440 also works on me)
The foundation is made for and would work for all skin types. It is a soft matte, so if you have dry skin I’d consider getting the Fenty Primer and/or making sure you use a hydrating serum or moisturizer before putting on your foundation. It is also buildable, medium to full coverage. One thing I noticed and it’s worth mentioning is this foundation does dry down about 1 or 2 shades darker than it goes on so keep that in mind as you select your perfect shade. The foundation is very watery, but it dries down to a smooth beautiful skin-like matte finish. Plus, the oil-free formula is made with climate-adaptive technology that is resistant to sweat and humidity and won’t clog pores so that wherever you are it’s going to work on your skin.
Kilawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Ginger Binge/ Moscow Mule (soft copper sheen / supercharged copper shimmer)
This luminizing cream-powder duo is simply gorgeous! This color looks and feels amazing on my skin. I’ve worn it as an eye highlight so far and will soon rock a full glam using it on my face and eyes.
Match Stix Trio (In Deep)
Let me know if you pick up any Fenty Beauty products and your thoughts on the line!
